What problem are we solving?

Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs, where the air sacs within the lungs fill with fluid. It is caused by either a bacterial, viral or fungal infection. It is also can be brought on by complications, such as a weakened immune system or following a stroke. Though not usually a serious illness, it can prove fatal if not adequately treated.

Worldwide, Pneumonia kills 4 million each year and affects approximately 7% of the population worldwide. Worse still, pneumonia is the biggest killer of children globally, accounting for over 900,000 deaths each year. That equates to 15% of all under-5 deaths worldwide. The majority of these deaths occur in small rural hospitals, where staff and materials are in short supply. The worst thing about these deaths, is that they are very preventable. The cure is all around us: pure oxygen.

At Freo2, we believe that every child in the world has the right to medical care. Thus, every health facility must have a reliable means of oxygen generation and storage.

To achieve this goal, we have designed a number of systems to generate oxygen that are affordable and reliable in situations where other products simply would not function, or would be impractical. These include SIPHON, a mechanical oxygen generator which can run off either solar power, or running water. Our Low Pressure Oxygen Storage (LPOS) ensures that even if the power goes out at rural hospitals,  and numerous subsystems to ensure that rural hospitals worldwide can provide medical grade oxygen, without expensive subsystems or much training.
